About AYFS
The mission of Auburn Youth and Family Services, Inc. is to support families through Empowerment and Community Collaboration.
Who We Are
Auburn Youth and Family Services was established in 1976 as the Auburn Project, a non-traditional means to meet the needs of Auburn’s youth.
The focus of the Auburn project was the prevention of drug/alcohol abuse through education and intervention. Over the years, the programs expanded. In 1991, the agency’s name was changed to Auburn Youth and Family Services to reflect this growth and expansion of services.
The services of AYFS encompass the treatment of the entire family. The strength of our programs and services is prevention and early intervention with families in need.

AYFS Clinical Internships
AYFS offers a competitive internship program for students enrolled in a Master’s level counseling or social work program. Interns are expected to carry a clinical caseload of individuals of all ages – the majority of whom are children and youth. They participate in school based services at least one day a week. All interns provide case management services to local residents as part of their experience. We offer a variety of group experiences as well. Individual supervision is provided by our clinical director and group supervision and training is offered every Wednesday.
AYFS prioritizes 2nd year Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and full year counseling students.
